NEW YORK, United States, March 20th, 2025/Chainwire/--Lagrange, the decentralized ZK Prover network, has signed an agreement with Matter Labs to direct up to 75% of Matter Labs' outsourced proof demand to the Lagrange Prover Network (LPN) over the next two years. This agreement marks a crucial advance in the transition of ZK Stack towards decentralized proof generation.
In January 2025, Lagrange successfully integrated a decentralized version of the ZKsync ZK Stack prover, demonstrating that proof generation no longer needs to rely on centralized solutions.
This new partnership consolidates that progress, allowing ZKsync to process more of its proof demand through a decentralized network, something never before achieved at this scale.
Every rollup will be a ZK rollup, and that is the future of Layer 2 scalability, commented Ismael Hishon-Rezaizadeh, co-founder and CEO of Lagrange.
ZK rollups offer unmatched scalability, security, and cost efficiency, making them the inevitable choice for next-generation decentralized applications. With this partnership, ZKsync is leading the way and the Elastic Network will operate at an unprecedented scale without compromising decentralization.
Lagrange has spent the past year demonstrating that decentralized proof networks can outperform centralized alternatives. LPN has already reduced costs, increased throughput, and eliminated reliance on centralized single points of failure.
Now, with Matter Labs committing to use LPN for up to 75% of its outsourced proofs, the industry has a clear path towards a fully decentralized ZK rollup ecosystem.
For ZKsync users, this translates into lower gas fees and faster transactions. For businesses, this means greater confidence in the performance and stability of Layer 2 solutions on the Elastic Network.
This collaboration further increases the scaling capacity of ZKsync's Elastic Network and gives developers more customization options, highlighted Anthony Rose, CTO of Matter Labs.
Decentralized proof generation increases network resilience compared to the centralized model and expands the hardware available to generate proofs, which is crucial as network activity grows. By integrating Lagrange's infrastructure, we are also expanding the flexibility and control available to developers, reinforcing ZK Chains as the most powerful and adaptable scalability solution for the future of web3.
The ZKsync ecosystem has nearly 25 ZK Stack chains, 300 applications, and 1.3 million on-chain transactions in the last month. Lagrange has demonstrated its ability to operate at scale, unlocking the next phase in the evolution of ZK rollups.
Rollup-as-a-service platforms, including Caldera and AltLayer, are also leveraging Lagrange by relying exclusively on LPN for proof generation in their ecosystems.
Key aspects:
- Decentralization – The majority of proof generation for a major rollup will occur on a decentralized network.
- Cost reduction – Decentralized proof generation significantly lowers operational costs, reducing gas fees for users.
- Security and availability – LPN's independent validator network ensures continuous availability, resilience, and greater security compared to centralized alternatives.
- Growth opportunities – By capturing more proof demand from ZKsync, Lagrange unlocks new possibilities for expansion and revenue generation.
