This study explores the use of blockchain technology and social networks for the collection and processing of information, with an emphasis on Ethereum and Twitter.
The study examines data stored on the blockchain, which is public and accessible by design on Ethereum. To efficiently structure and access this information, Google BigQuery was used, enabling fast and accurate queries. NFT transactions were collected, storing key elements such as the transaction hash, the smart contract address, the involved wallet addresses, the time in milliseconds since the UNIX epoch, the block number, and the values of ETH or WETH transferred. Gas fees and suspicious transactions were excluded, ensuring the reliability of the analyzed data. In total, 393,210 transactions were examined up to April 15, 2022.
Regarding data collection from Twitter, the official API was used, accessing public tweets since the platform's first publication in 2006. Details such as publication time, unique identifier, text, number of replies, likes, and retweets were stored, along with hashtags and the author user. English tweets were prioritized, querying the official accounts of the projects and specific hashtags used in their communities. In total, 7,747,078 tweets were analyzed.
