EA will permanently shut down four games in October: NHL 21 will stop working on October 6, Need for Speed Rivals on October 7, Madden NFL 22 on October 20, and FIFA 23 on October 30; the shutdown will affect all platforms including PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X, and Nintendo Switch.
EA has not offered further details beyond the usual reasons related to licensing and server maintenance. When the servers are shut down, online features will disappear permanently, although there is a possibility that Need for Speed Rivals may return in the future as a nostalgic re-release. Until those dates, the titles will remain on sale and modes that do not require a connection will still be playable.
