I'm very happy to share my first article here. I'm a regular reader and decided to contribute with a small project I built out of necessity and that ended up being very useful.
My mother frequently asks me to download new music for her. I used to use sites like mp3juice, but lately all those portals have become full of pop-up ads, suspicious redirects, and a terrible user experience. After the last time, I got frustrated and thought it would be simpler to create my own tool that worked without all that noise.
That's how a simple YouTube downloader was born. It's an open-source tool designed to do the bare minimum and do it well. For the backend, I used Go, and on the frontend, I kept everything with Vanilla JS to offer a clean interface with no unnecessary elements.
The solution brought peace of mind back to the process, and now helping my mother with her music is quick and simple again. I'm sharing the tool in case it can save someone else time and hassle.
