Use of Redis 8: we leverage geospatial commands such as GEOADD and GEORADIUS to store and query aircraft positions around a reference point, use Lua scripting to encapsulate conflict detection logic and vertical separation calculations, and Redis Streams to publish real-time alerts ensuring notifications reach the frontend and automated response systems. Additionally, we adopted multithreaded I/O to scale to more than 1000 concurrent aircraft updates.
Architecture and flow: data emitters send position updates to Redis, Lua scripts validate proximity and vertical separation using z-scores and geoqueries, detected conflicts are added to an alert stream, and consumers in the frontend and analytics services process them in real time to display information on maps and dashboards.
