We present Tripzy, an intercity booking web platform developed with Flask and SQLAlchemy to connect small towns with large cities. At Q2BSTUDIO, a company specialized in custom software development, I participated in the design and implementation to offer a practical and scalable solution.
The main objective was to create a complete seat-by-seat and vehicle-by-vehicle booking system, intuitive for travelers, vehicle owners, and administrators, all accessible from a single responsive web application.
Technologies used - Python Flask backend, Flask SQLAlchemy ORM, HTML5 CSS3 Bootstrap 5 frontend, SQLite database in development and temporary hosting on Replit. As part of the roadmap, we propose migration to AWS and Azure cloud services for production, with security integration and scalability managed by Q2BSTUDIO.
Key features for travelers - Browsing and filtering available trips, booking individual seats or the entire vehicle, booking management and notifications. For vehicle owners - publishing availability, accepting and managing bookings, occupancy control and communication with passengers. For administrators - user and trip management, activity monitoring and usage reports.
Look and user experience - main section highlighting the service, visual step-by-step cards on how it works, mobile first design with Bootstrap, reusable components and microinteractions to improve the experience.
Development approach - database design with models for Users, Trips and Bookings, relationships managed with SQLAlchemy, organized routes and blueprints for administrator, owner and client panels, Jinja2 templates for dynamic content and reusable components for cards, forms and navigation.
Challenges faced - validation on both the client side and the server side to ensure security, modeling relationships in SQLAlchemy to correctly reflect booking logic, and Replit deployment limitations that made it necessary to use screenshots and local demos for presentations.
Current status and next steps - project in staging pending payment and deployment. Upcoming milestones include cloud deployment on AWS or Azure, integration of artificial intelligence features for route and price optimization, incorporation of AI agents for automated support and Power BI analytics dashboards for business intelligence.
