Project summary In this article we describe the design and implementation of the CTF LLaitun architecture, a challenge platform that was born from an initial laboratory experience and evolved into a benchmark of technical leadership. The project combines infrastructure design, automation, security, and user experience to provide a stable, scalable, and secure environment.
Objectives and scope The main objective was to create an architecture that would support multiple challenge modalities, from web and forensics to binaries and cryptography, with rapid deployment and automatic recovery capabilities. Resilience, traceability, and data integrity were prioritized to ensure a competitive and educational experience.
Architecture decisions A modular container-based architecture was adopted to facilitate deployments and updates. Orchestration and automation with infrastructure as code made it possible to reproduce test and production environments. AWS and Azure cloud services were integrated according to the need for elasticity, load balancing, and global distribution.
Security and cybersecurity Security was a requirement from the design phase. Defense-in-depth practices, network segmentation, and container hardening were applied.
