Tesseract Presentation - submission for Google AI Studio. This article is my entry for the DEV Education Track Build Apps with Google AI Studio call and summarizes the work done, the technical decisions, and the experience with the platform.
The project had two main objectives. The first was to expand the set of possible extraction elements, leveraging the platform's flexibility to process and generate more diverse and useful results. The second was to rebrand the solution, aligning the visual identity and communication style with the new product vision.
To achieve this, I implemented custom prompts and integrations that refined the extraction logic while keeping it adaptable to different scenarios and formats. The architecture allows adding new types of fields to extract without redoing the core flow, making it easy to handle invoices, forms, contracts, and other documents with the same platform.
Demo available on Vercel and in the project repository, with screenshots showing light and dark themes and successful extraction states. The demo illustrates how the solution processes images and documents, detects relevant fields, and returns structured results ready to integrate into business workflows.
My experience with Google AI Studio was generally very positive. I see the platform as a tool with great potential to revolutionize many aspects of development, especially in terms of accelerating prototypes and enriching applications with artificial intelligence capabilities. That said, there is still room for improvement in more demanding technical scenarios: at times the platform can deviate when a key parameter is missing, follow paths different from those expected, or fail to respect explicit instructions. A concrete example was a color palette generation where, despite providing the exact primary color, the light theme assigned blue as the primary color outside of what was specified.
Even with these points, I trust in the platform's evolution and that by reinforcing consistency and adherence to instructions, it will be able to handle complex technical contexts more robustly.
