Learning the basic concepts of Java programming and applying them to the real world
Every day is an opportunity to learn. By mastering new skills, I move toward my short-term goal of landing my first job in the information technology industry. I started with the essentials, the classic Hello World idea and the fundamentals that make it possible to understand any Java program.
Hello World concept and basic structure in Java
The first lesson is to understand that a Java program needs a class and a main method to run. Java is case-sensitive, so MyClass and myclass represent different entities. Inside the main method, the println method is used to display text on a line, and the print method is used to display text without a line break. For numbers, there is no need to use quotes; simply pass the numeric literal to the println method.
Practical differences between println and print
println adds a line break at the end of the output, allowing each message to appear on a separate line. print continues on the same line, useful for custom formatting. Both methods are basic tools for debugging and displaying results while learning programming.
Initial best practices
It is important to adopt good practices from the start: respect naming conventions, organize code into classes and methods, and write clear comments. Learning to print values and understanding data types such as integers and strings makes it easier to move on to more advanced concepts like control structures, objects, and exceptions.
