Microsoft has introduced .NET Framework 4.5, which provides developers with a novel way to create applications on the client (Windows Forms, WPF, Windows 8 Store Apps), on-premises (Windows Server) and in the cloud (Windows Azure).
The new capabilities of .NET Framework 4.5 include performance improvements and the ability to make asynchronous and parallel programming simpler. In addition, it offers .NET and XAML functionality for Windows 8 Store Apps.
.NET Framework 4.5 on the server also provides ASP.NET, WIF (Windows Identity Foundation), Entity Framework and WCF (Windows Communication Foundation). Likewise, for the cloud, Windows Azure provides full support for .NET development with Windows Azure SDK for .NET.
