A multidimensional study analyzed nine different models using counterfactual images —where the same person appears in varied cultural contexts— and found concerning patterns, such as the inversion of the relationship between socioeconomic status and authority, or racial failures that override cultural cues, especially with people from the Middle East. This reality demands that companies integrating artificial intelligence into their processes adopt a critical and customized approach.
From a business perspective, these biases can lead to unfair decisions in areas such as personnel selection, customer service, or market analysis.
