In the era of cloud-native systems, operational complexity has reached a level where traditional rule-based automation is no longer sufficient. Incidents unfold across multiple microservices, logs and metrics arrive at a pace that overwhelms human capacity, and any recovery action must be executed without losing the causal context that ensures its safety. It is in this scenario that an approach like AOI (AI-Oriented Operations) makes sense, a multi-agent framework that introduces an architecture based on specialized agents —an Observer, a read-only Probe, and a protected Executor— connected through dynamic planning and a hierarchical memory system that uses language models to compress context. This design transforms prolonged incident response into an iterative cycle of observation, evidence collection, safe intervention, and memory update. Results obtained in simulations and real-world scenarios show an improvement in success rate of up to 94.2%, a 34.4% reduction in mean time to resolution, and a 72.4% compression of operational context while preserving 92.8% of diagnostic information. The key, according to the authors, lies in the combination of agent specialization, adaptive planning, and memory compression, rather than in any isolated module. This advancement points to a clear path: autonomous operations can move beyond simple alert classifiers to become reliable, context-aware recovery systems.
