South Korea has formally suspended new downloads of the Chinese artificial intelligence chatbot DeepSeek, as the platform must make adjustments to its mobile applications to comply with data protection regulations. According to the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC), downloads have been paused since February 15, 2025, at 6:00 PM local time. Meanwhile, the web service remains operational.
