Application developers earned 11 billion euros last year from the App Store Apple customers spent more than 10 billion dollars (around 7.337 billion euros at current exchange rates) in 2013 at the US technology manufacturer's app store, App Store, the company reported this Tuesday. Specifically, in December alone, the firm achieved sales of 1 billion dollars (around 734 million euros), with almost 3 billion apps, which represents the "largest" monthly sales figure in the history of the App Store, which "opened" its doors in July 2008 with a catalog of 500 apps. Likewise, the firm explained that Apple developers earned 15 billion dollars (around 11.014 billion euros) from the App Store. Apple's Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue, noted that 2013 was "the best year in the history of the App Store". "The range of apps launched this Christmas has been incredible and we are looking forward to developers' new creations for 2014", he added. App Store offers more than one million apps to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users in 155 countries, with more than 500,000 native apps for iPad. Apple also noted that App Store customers can choose from 24 categories, including newspapers and magazines in Newsstand, games, business, news, sports, health and fitness, travel and kids.
