Broadcasts with 8K resolutions

Leaving aside the fact that the stratospheric numbers when we talk about screen resolutions are starting to become sickening, Japan has once again demonstrated its technological superiority. In preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, they are already beginning to conduct tests not in the resolution that is now on everyone's lips, 4K, but rather going further by conducting broadcast tests in 8K resolution (7680 x 4320). This resolution is named Super Hi-Vision 8K, and is capable of displaying images of more than 33 Megapixels of resolution, or in other words, as if we placed 16 Full HD monitors in a 4 x 4 grid. That is, if the 4K resolution (2160p) appeared very recently, this new resolution is equivalent to placing four 4K monitors in a 2 x 2 tandem. With this image you will see it much more clearly. Now that we all have a clear understanding of the dimensions that this resolution entails, we proceed. The Japanese network NHK has already successfully conducted broadcast tests in 8K resolution through the UHF channel and at a distance of 27 kilometers. The idea of the Japanese is for this technology to be fully implemented and available to everyone so that they can broadcast the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in this resolution, although experts highly doubt it given that they say people cannot differentiate between 8K and 4K at the distance at which they normally watch television (and this is normal as we already explained). According to the words of Damian Thong, analyst at Macquarie Securities, 8K resolution will not be viable until, at the earliest, 2030. In any case and as we mentioned at the beginning of this news, Japan once again demonstrates its technological superiority and how little it costs them to invest in it. While the rest of the world is nowhere near adopting 4K yet, in Japan they are already testing 8K. In fact, in many countries such as Spain, public television has just made the leap to 720p resolution (and some isolated channel that broadcasts some content at 1080i), that is, we are still far from Full HD, and we cannot even consider 8K which has a resolution 16 times greater.
