It is 2025, and yet the internet remains a lawless Wild West where scammers, malware distributors, and phishing sites operate without restrictions. All of this happens because CDN and hosting providers refuse to take responsibility for their own networks. Instead of acting proactively, they hide behind legal loopholes, waiting for court orders and official complaints before taking action.
The reality is that these providers have the power to block malicious domains, shut down fraudulent sites, and stop harmful traffic at its source. But they do not do it, because these malicious actors are also paying customers.
The excuse of 'it is not our problem' is unacceptable

Time and again, researchers and cybersecurity professionals report suspicious domains to hosting providers, only to receive the same response: 'We need a court order or a legal request before we can act.' By the time bureaucracy responds, the fraud has already occurred and the criminals have moved on to their next target.
The industry is profiting from fraud
The real reason providers do not act is money. A malicious website still pays for hosting, a phishing scam still consumes bandwidth, and even botnets generate revenue for CDNs. In short, it is negligence with an economic incentive.
Clear solutions, no excuses
The technology to detect and block malicious sites already exists. CDN and hosting providers have real-time threat intelligence, blacklists, and automated monitoring tools. If email providers can filter phishing emails before they reach users, why can CDNs not do the same with malicious sites?
We need urgent changes:
Automatic blocking of malicious actors – Malware, phishing, and fraud sites should not require a court order to be shut down. If they are dangerous, they must be blocked immediately.
Transparency and accountability – Providers must publish lists of the fraudulent domains they block instead of hiding behind ambiguous policies.
Severe penalties for inaction – If a provider refuses to act against fraud, they must be held legally responsible for facilitating cybercrime.
No more excuses
The internet does not have to be an uncontrolled space for criminals. The companies that manage its infrastructure must stop evading responsibility and effectively enforce their own rules. If they do not, regulators must step in and treat them as accomplices to these crimes.
If you host scam, phishing, or malware sites, you are part of the problem. And if you are a CDN, DNS, or hosting provider that allows this to happen without taking action, you are equally guilty.
